Arab League chief discusses Sudanese question with opposition leader

CAIRO, June 20 (KUNA) — Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa held talks on Saturday with Sudanese Chairman of the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) Mohamed Osman Al-Mirghani regarding the latest developments on the Sudanese arena.
Al-Mirghani told reporters after the talks that discussion focused on developments in the Arab region, the situation in the African continent and efforts to bring security and stability in Sudan.
The chairman noted he had launched an initiative to achieve comprehensive national reconciliation, pointing out he began to make contacts with all Sudanese political parties to implement this initiative.
Al-Mirghani who is the head of the opposition National Democratic Alliance, an umbrella of several political groups, expressed hope that the Arab League plays a vital role in such efforts, including implementing the 2005 Egyptian-sponsored agreement among all Sudanese parties.
