Following the stoning of a Central Reserve Police convoy today in El Fasher, North Darfur, officers proceeded to enter a high school in search of those responsible. On entry, shots were fired into the air. The action resulted in more rocks being thrown, leaving three students injured.
In the highly charged atmosphere, an angry mob of students took out their frustration on those passing by, including a UNAMID vehicle, which was stoned. The incident resulted in the non-life threatening injury of one national staff who was subsequently taken to UNAMID’s hospital.
