A 25-year-old man is in serious condition after a group of up to six young men robbed and beat him unconscious Thursday on a street in Seattle’s Beacon Hill neighborhood, police say.
According to KING-TV, the man is an immigrant from Sudan who was to graduate this afternoon from Seattle Central Community College.
Seattle police have arrested two men and continue to look for several others.
“Some of the witnesses were able to take photographs of the suspects,” Seattle police spokeswoman Reneé Witt said.
Police say the robbery occurred at 6:38 p.m. in the 1900 block of 13th Avenue South. The victim had just left his apartment, when passers-by saw a group of five or six males jump him.
The group of attackers took several items from the victim’s pockets, then ran, Witt said, leaving the man lying on the sidewalk.
The man was taken to Harborview Medical Center. KING-TV reported the man was listed in serious condition Friday evening.
A short time after the attack, patrol officers arrested two suspects, 19 and 21. Both are being held at the King County Jail, and could face felony robbery charges.
