Open Letter to President Obama

Dear Mr. President,
It is obvious that this current regime of Khartoum is not capable, willing and serious about bringing peace to the people of Sudan. So far, there are over 30 agreements signed between the current regime and different rebel groups and political parties that have not been honored or implemented.
Unfortunately, most of the opposition leaders have not yet recognized the mentality of the leaders of this regime. They are actually a group of people who have conducted business together. All they care about is their own interests and how to protect them no matter what it may cost the country or the people. They have investments and criminal relationships all over the world. These leaders have carried out genocide in a premeditated way. The killing is still going on and the perpetrators are still at large. It is as if they are proud of what they have done in Darfur and they have insulted the international law.
Therefore, for the sake of the children, for the sake of Sudan as a country, for the sake of hundreds of thousands trembling under the violence; something must be done. We can no longer condone this. Now is the time to bring the real promise of peace and justice to the people of Darfur. Now is the time to end this long and desolate war. Now is the time to let justice roll down like water and righteousness like a mighty stream.
Millions of us have been living under this threat just because we are from Darfur and seeking freedom. Something must be done otherwise Sudan is in serious danger and is already at the verge of collapse. Therefore, as there is no doubt that this current regime is not willing to bring peace to Sudan, I suggest:
You urge the ICC to take a crucial step concerning the perpetrators of genocide in Darfur to bring them to justice. It is often said that “Justice delayed is justice denied”, and “Injustice anywhere threatens justice everywhere.”
The issue of the unity of Sudan is no longer possible. Therefore, Darfur should have a right for a referendum to determine whether to be a part of Sudan or not and all other regions such as Blue Nile, east Sudan and Nuba Mountains should have the same right. They are entitled to have a right to determine how to govern themselves.
The current regime is no longer a legal government after the indictment of the president, Al Bashir, which means he should hand over power in order to make it possible for any solution to be reached.
The negotiations which have been going on in Doha, Libya and Egypt have obviously proved the impossibility of reaching a real peace through this type negotiation. This is because most of these countries that have hosted the negotiations between the government and Darfur rebel movements are supporting the side of the Sudan regime. I believe that these countries cannot be neutral mediators. The real solution to the Darfur crisis requires that negotiations be held in a place where neutrality can be ensured.
The people of Darfur have suffered a lot and we have not yet seen any really solution to this crisis. We are very disappointed. Therefore, we seek to put our region under the UN protection. We recommend this as one of the possible solutions because any delay to this resolving this crisis is prolonging the agony of people of Darfur.
