JEM has no Bases in Chad as Sudantribune Implies
Sudantribune reported today that Sudanese armies carried air strikes at our bases at Umdjeress inside Chad on May 30, 2009. The report bears no source of information other than ST, Paris Office.
We would like to convey to Sudantribune that JEM has no bases in Chad and that airstrikes referred to are a figment of bizarre imagination of the sources quoted by ST.  At the time of conveying contents of the article to us, JEM forces were chasing GoS armies and their allied Janjaweed in several locations including Kutum area, Ummaraheek near Alfashir, Abu Gimra and Wadi Sunut.  These locations are in the heart of Darfur and not in Chad.
We very much understand Khartoum’s need to resort to media lies to cover for its recent fiasco with the defeated Chadian rebels that it backs.  What we do not understand is how an important media outlet of the calibre of Sudantribune could fall into this trap.  With all due sincerity and respect, JEM urges ST to check its sources and avoid turning into a propaganda tool for the government of Khartoum.
