Darfur Union in the UK: Horrific Rape Crimes continue in Sudan – This Time, Two Teenage Girls were Raped by Alburhan and Hemiditi Soldiers in Central Darfur; Meanwhile the Transitional Government Media is praising the role of Military throughout History and FFC are Campaigning for Election!
The cycle for violence against the civilians of Sudan in DARFUR continues. Two teenage girls in Central Darfur, 6 kilometres off Neirtiti, were on their way to collect some firewood fuel , in Um Hashaba to be specific (Saturday, 5th October 2019). Their journey was intercepted by Rapid Speed Force, Janjaweed, Sudanese Soldiers, the hats keep changing yet the rate of crime is the constant. The two teenagers were brutally raped.
The victims family found them at that state, then took them to the Neirtiti Hospital in Central Darfur for medical treatment.
Below are the names of the victims:-
1. Asma Adam Ali
2. Nezira Adam Ibrahim
The treatment of this statement is accompanied with this statement.
The crime can not by any mean be viewed as an isolated incident given the track record of GoS soldiers which remained the same after the coup d’etat on Bashir by his generals back on the 11th April 2019. The policies for these regulars Forces and militias have not changed. The transitional government is acting as it is powerless to even speak out when a crime take place. The Forces for Freedom and Change (FFC) as a body, is doing its best to make sure the deal signed with the military junta, the true ruler in the country, stays as is, and they are fighting to make sure that any criticism is labelled as anti revolution. The allure of being closer to power has blinded their judgement.
The least expectations from Hamadok government is to voice out their opinions clearly on the increased rate of crimes against the people of Sudan in Darfur, Nuba Mountains and Blue Nile State. The honeymoon is over, no body is expecting an overnight change, however, the essence of the revolution was based on speaking up, and currently the silence is deafening particular from the following ministries: Culture and Media, Health and Justice. Only yesterday the minster of Culture and Media was singing praises of the arm forces and called their role throughout the history of Sudan to be heroic, the very forces the has never defended its boarders against foreign invaders, as it is only specialise in protecting totalitarian regimes and waging war against its own people (ref. *), genocide anyone?!
The Rapid Speed Forces and the military lead by war lords Abdel Fattah Alburhan and Hemiditi are the same forces that were the documented in the past to use of rape as a weapon against the civilians of the region and Sudan in general. One can stop at the Tabit mass rape committed the Sudanese regular troop (see HRW, ref. 1) were 200 women were raped by GoS soldiers. Another example is the horrific mass rape of Taweela High School students in North Darfur suffered at the hands of Bashir Janjaweed troops (ref. 2).
Systematic rape was used as a deterrent against the women and young girls belonging to some of the African tribes in Darfur as stated on the ICC Case Information Sheet (The prosecutor vs. Omar Al Bashir, ref. 3).
Children and teenagers are the most vulnerable groups in the society in the region and under the current government.
They are always at the forefront of the struggle. They suffer harassment, and are often subjected to all form of assault,m cinch as killing, torture, and the use of rape by the perpetrators.
Darfur Union in the UK stands with the young victims of Sudan in Darfur and across the country as they take this monumental task of growing up in such danger. Darfur Union in the UK plea to the UNESCO to raise the aforementioned crimes and systemic GoS rape policy at their next meeting. Also direct plea to the Children and women protection organisations in and out Sudan to follow up the case of the aforementioned victims, and to provide support and medical attention/ counselling to them and her family.
A message to the FFC that is currently utilising these terrible times to work on the election campaign and future pledges to the people of sudan in the Diaspora. After the debacles of the constitutional document (weakly written by Satie Alhaj and Ibtisam Elsanhouri) i.e. last minute alternation to please the military junta, you are also to be held partially responsible for this current mess the country is in. History shall reveal it all. Deja vu of the so called alliance that handed the country back to Bashir and the Islamic Front back in 1989.
