South Sudan census results officially released

June 6, 2009 (JUBA) — South Sudan Census Commissioner Isaiah Chol Aruai has today officially released Sudan fifth population and housing census as 8,260,490 conducted by southerners in Jonglei state leading with 1,358,602 million while Bahr el Ghazal has 333,431 smallest population of counted states.
It further indicated that southern population has increased from 5,329,267 in 1983 to 8 260 490 in 2008. Statistic data also indicated that 4, 287 300 counted population were males which translates to 51.9 percent while 3 973 190 are females which translates to forty eight percent and previous census results also show more males than females while seventy two percent of population are under thirty years old.
Since 1983 all regions in southern Sudan experienced an increase in population numbers therefore to rejection current census result would requires a political decision from Goss presidency, remarks commissioners Aruai.

In the same press briefing, Director of the latest Information Tecknowledge for census, Mr. Martin Abucha, said census was conducted by 184 southern experts in addition to 10076 numerators who did their best in processing data at Rumbek center of southern Sudan including education attainment, socio demographic information were collected by southerners.
Adding that they are satisfied with used stand styles and information provided for the first time in history of the south, therefore challenge any doubting Thomas to come for cross checking at Rumbek census office of southern Sudan.
