Doha: The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs H E Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Mahmoud said a reconciliation summit is expected to be held between presidents of Sudan and Chad soon to resolve differences between them, noting that ending tension in relations between the two countries will contribute to a solution to the Darfur problem.
In a statement to an Arabic daily, the Minister said the date of the expected summit will be left to the leadership of the two countries to set in consultation with the Libyan leadership.
On the results of his recent visit to Khartoum and his talks with Sudanese officials, the Minister said it achieved positive and good results, noting that the talks dealt with the efforts exerted to achieve peace in Darfur and future plan and steps aimed to push forward the peace process and to resume the Doha negotiations.
