Bringing Good News of Peace, Prosperity, Freedom, Democracy, Justice and
Equality to
the Marginalised Peoples of Sudan
16th November 2010
El Eid Greetings
SPLM would want to send cordial greetings to all the Muslims worldwide and
especially to the Muslims of Southern Sudan. Southern Sudan is one of the
countries that accommodate all the faiths harmoniously. It is a land of faith
coexistence that will help eradicate religious hatred among the people of Africa
where the two Middle Eastern religions are finding it difficult to build
consensus on human rights and basic freedom as manifested in the theocratic
state of Sudan today.
This Eid Dhaya is always special because it is associated with sacrifice.
Sacrifice is about forgoing something in the belief of achieving an objective of
higher value. For people of Southern Sudan,we pay tribute to the millions of
martyrs who have perished without statistics since the dawn of Sudan history. It
also brings into our memory the recent sacrifices of our leaders who were
neither Muslims nor Christians, but very more religious people than books of
religion of today can document. Ngundeng, Arianhdit, Budwei and so many others
humbly paid the ultimate price for freedom of the people of Southern Sudan. They
are our founding fathers of this nation that will be born on 9th January 2011.
In the period of 1955 – 1972, Southern Sudan liberation struggle saw its true
Muslim believers and holy and faithful children, Gen. Ali Guatala, Jebril Makoi
Mangok, Siliman Marel and so many Muslim liberators taking up arms to fight for
decolonization of Southern Sudan. These are true Africans who believed that God
is everywhere in the world and all people are children of God.
Islam and Christianity that are in books, and other Southern Sudanese believes
that has not been documented, but can unite people and contribute towards
progress of humankind, serve us better and provides basis for political maturity
and pluralism in our society.
The image and value of religion has been tarnished and deformed by the enemies
of humankind in Sudan. The use of religion in Sudan as a tool for political and
racial marginalization and domination has been the most toxic political odour
that has suffocated unity of the country beyond recovery.

Equality to
the Marginalised Peoples of Sudan
During this November, the people of Southern Sudan in all their faiths, are
registering in masses and preparing to write the new page of their history with
their votes. Remember, our martyrs wrote the history with their own blood. They
are voting for an independent Country and go into the history as the first
generation in Southern Sudan to honour their martyrs by fulfilling their wish to
have a free nation.
President Salva Kir Mayardit and Vice President Dr. Riek Machar Teny, will go
into the history as the first men to lead Southern Sudanese across the Red Sea
of the oppressive Sudan in 2011.
The Southern Sudan to be born on 9th January 2011 will be a land where all the
faiths groups will live in peace forever. There will be no Muslim, no Christian
or traditional divinity but Southern Sudanese who are all equal in creed, belief
and before the law.
May this Eid bring peace, freedom and prosperity to people of Southern Sudan
regardless of their different faiths and may God give people of Southern Sudan
their homeland by 9th January 2011.
