Interview with Ahmed Tugud, JEM’s Chief Negotiator
Ahmed Tugud is JEM’s Chief Negotiator. The lawyer and JEM activist has represented the movement at peace talks, congresses and negotiations across Africa, Europe and the Middle East for years already and continues to travel on a monthly basis for JEM.
In this interview he discusses some of the topics currently in the news. These include why the Boko Haram kidnap of young girls received worldwide press coverage, but the 7-hour rape of 200 girls in Sudan received so little; the role of UNAMID and its success or failure so far and the status of the SRF today as Bashir tries to break it up.
Mr.Tugud also discusses the key visit to Chad by JEM members, the first visit in three years to the important regional player.
