Abu Dhabi, Jun 27th, 2009 (WAM) — HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Representative of Ruler in Western Region and Chairman of the Red Crescent Authority (RCA), has ordered transfer of the Emirates World Mobile Hospital to South Sudan to provide the curative, surgical, preventive and training services under supervision of elite of doctors and world surgeons in response to official request from the Sudanese Ministry of Health.
Sheikh Hamdan stressed that the move follows instructions from the UAE leadership to dispatch the relief to the needy across the globe, indicating that the “UAE is keen to adopt the humanitarian initiatives to assist victims and sick in times of crisis”.
Khadim Al Daraei, head of the Emirates World Mobile Hospital team said the initiative “is the first of its kind in the world to ease suffering of the elderly, children and the needy people in general.” Dr Adil Al Shameri, executive director of the hospital, said that South Sudan will be the first station in mid July to be followed later by Morocco and Lebanon.
