This document includes a map and a map series. The central map portrays villages in Darfur that the U.S. Government has confirmed as destroyed or damaged between February 2003 and August 2009. The data reflect only what analysts have been able to identify and confirm so far. Numerous villages have not yet been evaluated. Where it is possible, the year or year range of confirmed damage or destruction has been determined. A destroyed village is defined as confirmed evidence of complete destruction of the village. A damaged village is defined as confirmed evidence of partial destruction. The map series portrays confirmed destroyed and damaged village locations in Darfur between February 2003 and August 2009, and highlights when the destruction or damage took place. Each dot represents one destroyed/damaged village. Villages that are confirmed to have been destroyed or damaged within a specific calendar year are highlighted (in pink) in this map series.
