July 1, 2009 (EL-FASHER) — Unknown gunmen carjacked two vehicles belonging to an International Non Governmental Organization working in West Darfur state, the hybrid peacekeeping reported today.
The carjacking occurred on Monday June 29 in two separate locations near Garsila, 82 kilometers south west of Zalingei in West Darfur.
The UNAMID did not disclose the name of the INGO, but said no one of the aid workers was wounded.
The incident was reported to the local police and security service.
On the other hand, the UNAMID organized on Tuesday a workshop on social peace building in Nyala, the capital of South Darfur.
The participants from the state officials and civil society discussed issues related to land disputes among different groups in Darfur, social peace and transitional justice, clashes between farmers and pastoralists, security and internally displaced persons.
