200 Government Intelligence Border Guards Defect to JEM
In a crushing blow to Khartoum Government, around 200 Intelligence Border Guards defected to JEM, complete with their military arms, November 14th 2009. The defectors were led by Brigadier General Khamis Adam Mohamed Idriss, popularly known as Sharon (pronounced Sharoon) of the Masaleit group.
The division was formed by the Minster for Defence in his last visit to Darfur and was entrusted with clearance of Geneina and Jabal Moon area of inhabitants unsympathetic to the government.
JEM congratulates Brigadier General Sharon for this outstanding victory and urges all other members of the Border Guards to follow suit.
